Virgin Atlantic Airways Selects ILS to Auction Surplus Inventory for the Second Year in a Row

. March 15, 2007

Inventory Locator Service®, LLC (ILS), the largest and most active e-marketplace for the aviation industry, today announced that it is hosting an online auction of surplus parts for Virgin Atlantic Airways. This is the second auction ILS has hosted for the airline. The auction will begin Tuesday, March 20, at 11:30 a.m. CDST (17:30 GMT), and run for 24 hours.

In an effort to reduce excess inventory, Virgin Atlantic Airways is using ILS to host the online auction, which will consist of one lot containing 3,973 pieces of expendables for A320, A340, B747-200, and B747-400 aircraft. Most of the parts are in New or New Surplus condition, and have full traceability. ILS’ customized online auction solution enables companies to take advantage of ILS’ expertise without the investment in technology.

“ILS was the logical choice to host Virgin Atlantic’s online auction,” said Stewart Williams-Wynn of Virgin Atlantic Airways. “Because of our past success in using ILS’ online auction, we are confident that ILS will provide us with the same exceptional service.”

“ILS is committed to providing our customers with the best products in the industry. The online auction is just one of the many surplus management solutions ILS has designed to help our customers manage inventory and increase profitability,” said Bruce Langsen, president of ILS. “Buyers are able to purchase parts at tremendous cost savings, and Virgin is able to sell surplus inventory that would normally go to waste. It is a good arrangement for everyone involved.”
