Michael Hoffman Conferred With AARE Designation

. March 27, 2007

The National Auctioneers Association Education Institute (NAAEI) announces that Michael Hoffman, of Michael Hoffman & Associates, Pickerington, OH, has received the prestigious designation of Accredited Auctioneer of Real Estate (AARE).

The Institute’s AARE program educates and trains real estate and auction marketing professionals in ways that enhance their client services. Course topics include legal issues, financial analysis, property transfer, as well as case studies on the sale of agricultural, residential, commercial and industrial real estate using the auction method of marketing. There are currently fewer than 350 designees – fewer than 1 percent of all North American auctioneers – who hold the AARE designation.

“I recognize that there is an ever-increasing number of real estate auctions and I want to be on the crest of this expanding industry,” Hoffman said.

According to the National Auctioneers Association, residential real estate auctions, the fastest-growing sector of the auction industry, grew by 4.4 percent in the first half of 2006, up slightly from the 4.0 percent at the same time last year. Residential real estate grew at 8.4 percent overall in 2005, and has been the topic of widespread media coverage as a growing business niche.

Earning the Accredited Auctioneer of Real Estate (AARE) designation requires successful completion of a three-part educational program, which includes six days of instruction on selling real estate at auction, a comprehensive examination, submission of an acceptable auction summary report and proof of conducting a minimum of 10 real estate auctions. AARE designees must adhere to a strict code of ethics and standards of practice, and complete a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education courses every three years.

An auctioneer with the AARE designation has gone the “extra mile” to ensure that he or she offers the highest level of professionalism and most up-to-date information when it comes to selling real estate at auction. Whether selling residential, agricultural, commercial or industrial properties, AARE auctioneers have enhanced knowledge in all pertinent areas, such as:

• Real estate auction marketing techniques
• Financial/investment calculations and decisions
• Evaluating cash flow
• Holding-period analysis and problems
• Tax consequences of buying and selling properties
• Multi-parcel real estate auctions

Headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas, the NAAEI has provided higher education programs to auctioneers and other professionals for more than 26 years. The faculty is comprised of nationally recognized auctioneers and professionals who serve the real estate auction industry. In addition to the AARE designation, the NAAEI offers the Certified Auctioneers Institute CAI designation, specialized programs in personal property appraisal, handling estates, real estate auctions, benefit auctions and courses for administrative auction personnel.

Michael Hoffman & Associates offers a variety of real estate and auction services in Ohio and Michigan, including traditional real estate listings and buyer representation, real estate auctions, estate auctions, business liquidations, personal property appraisals and fund-raising events.
