Auctioneers (TSX: RBA)(NYSE: RBA), the world’s largest auctioneer of trucks and industrial equipment, announces the results of its large Moerdijk, the Netherlands auction held April 25-27, 2007. More than 750 registered bidders from 56 countries, 12 U.S. states and five Canadian provinces attended the unreserved auction at the Company’s permanent auction site in the port of Moerdijk, the Netherlands. A spray paint on steel titled ‘Space Girl and Bird’ by the elusive artist Banksy, soared twenty times its estimate to create a new auction world record of £288,000 at Bonhams today (25 April 2007). The previous auction record for Banksy’s work – ‘Bombing Middle England’ sold at Sothebys for £102,000 earlier this year. America’s largest and most prestigious Pinot Noir barrel auction, Hospices of Sonoma, set a new record Saturday night, raising more than $450,000 for charity. Winning bids at this year’s auction were up an average of 30% over the 2006 event, which earned $350,000. The top three wine lots were Kosta Browne at a record $24,000 for 10 cases, followed by Freeman Winery at $15,000 and Siduri at $14,300. In 1943 the late Illinois senator Harry G. Wright gifted farmland in DeKalb County to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to be used to promote agricultural education and fund agricultural scholarships and fellowships in the College of Agriculture, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES). Bonhams second Racing Sale at Newmarket to be held on July 20th takes place at the premises of Europe’s largest bloodstock auctioneers, Tattersalls. Among the many items on sale that celebrate the Sport of Kings is a painting of a prince among horses, Desert Orchid, the legendary steeplechaser. Gross sales revenues from auctions by NAA members in the first quarter of 2007 increased 2% over the same-time period one year ago, a study by the NAA has found. If this trend continues, this will translate into approximately $266 billion total revenue for 2007 for the entire auction industry, up from $257.2 billion in 2006, a projected 3.4% increase for all of 2007. This suggests the possibility of a slightly slower growth in the live auction industry in 2007 compared to 2006, when a 7.1% growth rate occurred for all of 2006 over the previous year. The first ...
