Art Auction to Help Preserve Natural Areas in Central Indiana

. July 26, 2007

Art collectors and conservationists can support the preservation of natural areas in central Indiana this Friday and Saturday, July 27th and July 28th, at the “Preserving Nature” art show and sale, held at Wickliff & Associates Auctioneers, Inc., in Carmel, IN.

Fifteen award-winning landscape artists, most from Indiana, have created a collection of thirty paintings to comprise “Preserving Nature”, a project crafted by the Central Indiana Land Trust (CILTI), which works to preserve natural areas in a ten-county region since 1990. CILTI has helped protect over 2,400 acres of land and owns thirteen nature preserves.

On July 27th from 6 to 9 pm, an exclusive purchase event will be held. Tickets are $35 each and must be purchased in advance through CILTI. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. On Saturday, July 28th, the balance of the collection will be for sale from 10 am to 4 pm. Each piece of art is priced for sale, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the land trust. For a price list and online catalog, visit www.wickliffauctioneers.com. To purchase tickets for July 27th, please call 317-631-5263 or visit www.cilti.org.

The art show kicked off with a Gala Event at the Artsgarden on April 14th to a crowd of over 300 people and has since traveled to nine different venues in Central Indiana. The collection has also been featured in the Indianapolis 500 Race Program and in title sponsor Barnes & Thornburg’s annual report.

Through land protection, stewardship and education, the Central Indiana Land Trust Incorporated, a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit, member-based organization, preserves natural areas, improving air and water quality and enhancing life in our communities for present and future generations.
