Famous Ballroom Dancers Estate to be Sold by Express Auction

October 27th will be another type of tribute to Billie Gordon, Life-long Hampton Native and renowned Ballroom Dancer. Billie Gordon, although known for her beauty, style, grace, and longevity, is best known for her generosity. Her Estate is being distributed mostly to Charities. Such is the destination for the proceeds of the Auction of her personal property on October 27th, 2007.

The Auction will be held at the Country Club Apartments where she both managed a lived since the 1980’s (complex was built by her late husband Charles “Flash” Gordon, well known Hampton Attorney), and until past her age of 100. Come to the 19th Hole Community Center at 115 Tide Mill Lane in Hampton to preview either at 3-6 PM on Friday Oct 26th or at 9 AM on Auction Day Saturday the 27th to buy a piece of the memory of a Great Lady.

Express Auctioneers and Appraiser will conduct and manage the Auction Sale of her personal property including Fine Jewelry, Crystal, Fine China, Furs, Ballroom Gowns, Artwork, Collectibles, Decorative Items, Oriental Rugs and her personal vehicles. Express Auctioneers and Appraisers was chosen by the Estate Representative because of their experience in conducting high-profile Auctions, both in and out of the area. The Auction of Nicks Seafood Pavilion Restaurant artifacts in Yorktown was another such event. Linda Makowski, Auctioneer and Certified Estate Specialist with Express Auctioneers stated “We have fabulous items belonging to Mrs. Gordon to sell; It will be an all-day event. Mrs. Gordon collected the finest; each item is a showpiece. There are many vintage items along with exquisite Jewelry. The site at the Country Club Apartments was chosen because of its local proximity and also where Mrs. Gordon practiced many of her dance routines.”

Billie Gordon began competitive dancing in the 1980’s. She was competing and winning awards in State and National Competitions until she was 95 years old. She celebrated her 100th Birthday at the American Theater with 200 friends celebrating with her and watching her dance in her stunning gown. She is most remembered by her support of the arts and her contributions to the community.
