THE NATIONAL TRUST OF AUSTRALIA (WA) APPOINTS BONHAMS & GOODMAN

Published October 20th, 2007

Bonhams & Goodman is pleased to announce its appointment to auction objects from the collections in storage of the National Trust of Australia (WA). The public auction will take place over two days on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 October 2007 at the Trust’s Burswood storage warehouse in Perth.

The National Trust of Australia (WA) has some 6,000 objects in storage that have been acquired since the 1960s through donation, bequest and purchase. After careful consideration, the Trust has decided to sell items from its collections in storage - objects acquired prior to the 1998 establishment of a very effective collections policy.

The auction comprises important Australian, English and Continental furniture, sterling silver, ivory, porcelain, 19th century domestic requisites and collectables. There is literally something for everyone on offer. “Cataloguing the collection of over 6,000 items has been challenging and fascinating. I have seen some wonderfully diverse objects and I think collectors will have a field day sifting through the 1,500 unreserved lots. There is definitely the opportunity to pick up a bargain”, says Mr Bruce.
