AuctionPublicity.com – 27 November 2007 at 7pm (local time) – The inaugural watch auction will feature over 100 lots, with the majority being highly sought-after contemporary wristwatches. They include Richard Mille’s complication tourbillon watches, Audemars Piguet’s unique and limited edition Royal Oak timepieces, Patek Philippe’s perpetual calendar watch, a vintage Rolex chronograph watch and other complication watches.

Among the highlights is a unique “Shanghai” orbital tourbillon complication watch commissioned specially for a charity auction to be held on 24 November during the public preview cocktail reception. Entire proceeds of the charity auction will go to the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation, founded by international action movie star Jackie Chan to offer active help and scholarships to young people of Hong Kong as well as medical services to those suffering from natural disasters or serious illnesses.

Shanghai watch is China’s premier watch brand. Established in 1955 with the launch of its first waterproof mechanical watch collection, the brand has enjoyed the patronage of China’s leaders such as Mao Zedong and Chou Enlai. On its 50th anniversary in 2005, Shanghai watch launched its first limited edition tourbillon watch that boasts international standards. The estimate price of the Shanghai orbital tourbillon watch is HK$300,000.

Carson Chan, Managing Director and Watch Specialist of Bonhams Hong Kong said: “As a watch collector, I feel that the Hong Kong market needs more channels for collectors to circulate their collections. The Bonhams inaugural auction of watches will provide a dedicated platform to collectors to either sell their watches or to find some rare watches from us. Our lots have been specially put together to suit the taste of the Hong Kong market, catering to both entry-level collectors and connoisseurs. They range from a vintage Rolex watch with an estimate of HK$10,000, an Art Deco period Vacheron Constantin clock with an estimate of HK$500,000 to complication watches that are expected to fetch close to $1 million. Our aim is to use the auction as a platform to share and exchange knowledge on all aspects of watch collecting with collectors.”
