Bonhams to Hold First Car Sale in France at Retromobile
Published December 8th, 2007
Bonhams France SAS will hold its inaugural motoring sale in Paris on Saturday 9 February 2008 at Rétromobile, the oldest established and most prestigious major classic car show in Europe which takes place from 8 - 17 February 2008 at the Paris Expo, Porte de Versailles.
Rétromobile has been running for 33 years and welcomes over 100,000 visitors from around the world. The entire collectors’ motoring world decamps to Paris for the duration of the show.
James Knight, Bonhams’ International Head of Motoring, comments: “We are delighted to announce a sale at Rétromobile as it is Europe’s premier event of its kind. Bonhams prides itself on offering the most sought after venues on the auction calendar to the motorcar collectors’ market and Rétromobile is a welcome addition to our worldwide portfolio. It enhances our presence in continental Europe, alongside our traditional sales in Monaco and Gstaad. My European colleagues Matthieu Lamoure and Philip Kantor - who has co-ordinated all previous sales at Rétromobile since 2002 - anticipate a memorable debut sale.”
This development means that Bonhams now has a presence at all of Europe’s premier historic motoring events. With the arrival of Philip Kantor as International Director of Business Development in the newly expanded European Motoring Department at Bonhams, which also includes Paris based Head of Department, Matthieu Lamoure and Specialist, Pierre Novikoff, the company is well placed to develop its motoring business on the Continent.
