Bid Online at Proxibid for Autograph of William Buffalo Bill Cody and More Historic Collectibles

. December 20, 2007

Proxibid, the leading provider of live auction Webcasting services, today announced that online bidding is available for an auction of militaria and historic collectibles hosted by Manions International Auction House. The auction is currently online at Proxibid and bids will be accepted until Sunday, December 30 at 8:30 p.m. CST.

This auction features military collectibles from many time periods and countries. Items such as uniforms, awards and decorations, field gear, insignia, Boy Scout items, coins, vintage clothing, classic toys, and more are currently available for online bidding.

This auction features several historic items to round out most any collection. Some of the most interesting items available include:

• Lot 5884496: William “buffalo Bill” Cody Autographed 1891 Copy Of “the Epworth Hymnal No. 2”. This very scarce and extremely rare autographed copy of “The Epworth Hymnal No. 2,” published in 1891, and signed on the inside front cover by famed frontiersman and founder of the fantastic “Wild West Shows,” William “Buffalo Bill” Cody. This hardcover hymn book is the successor to No. 1, published in 1864, which contains the standard hymns of the church, songs for the Sunday-school, songs for social services, songs for young people’s societies, songs for the home church, and songs for special occasions. It has 232 pages plus pages of advertising in the rear. The linen binding has peeled away and there are splits to the inside paper areas near spines FC and BC….but the book is holding together well. Both front and back covers are stamped “Property of M. E. S. School, Radford, Ills. Do Not Take Out. Leave in Seat.” Cody has signed “W. F. Cody” above “Buffalo Bill” in black fountain pen. The signature is bold and clear with wide margins so it could easily be matted and framed with a nice portrait of Cody. This hymnal was probably signed for an admiring young fan somewhere along the route as Cody’s Wild West Show toured the country. Circumstances may yield some interesting research! This is an extremely rare piece of history that one would expect to see in the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, Wyoming. Log on, bid and it could be yours.

• Lot 5795401: Huge Saddam Hussein Patriotic Canvas Street Banner – Baghdad 111 x 63″ heavy irregular shaped canvas with a hand painted patriotic depiction of Saddam Hussein, Mosque dome, flag waving Iraqi patriots, and an Iraqi tank. Saddam Hussein dominates the image and is shown with his right arm upraised in his standard crowd salute, and wearing his daily dress uniform with Mushir shoulder boards and trademark black beret. Includes a Mosque dome with crescent moon atop, a group of three Iraqi patriots, and a tank below. Liberated from a Baghdad area by US Marine. Obviously one-of-a-kind. Remarkable!
In addition, a large number of silver coins, WWII memorabilia and several collectible Boy Scout pieces are available in this auction.
