$15,500 Raised in Super Bowl Ticket Auction to Benefit Childrens Miracle Network

PUBLISHED 5 February 2008

PHOENIX – A local Phoenix man went to the Super Bowl knowing that the money he spent helped the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. On February 1, News/Talk 92.3 KTAR finalized the auction of a premium Super Bowl ticket package donated by Arizona State Credit Union to benefit Children’s Miracle Network. Over 40 bids were received, some from other Credit Unions, and the winning bid of $15,500 is being donated to the “1 Darn Cool School” program (http://www.phoenixchildrens.com/patients-visitors/1-darn-cool-school/ ) which continues the educational needs of Phoenix Children’s Hospital patients who are hospitalized.

Every year, Arizona’s credit unions raise money for the “1 Darn Cool School” through the Credit Unions for Kids program. “We are very happy to learn that this great Super Bowl package has served to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network,” said David E. Doss, President/CEO of Arizona State Credit Union. “The excitement surrounding the Super Bowl provided a wonderful opportunity to benefit this truly great program for kids.”

The auction took place January 31st during the Darrell Ankarlo Show, the Mac Watson Show, and the Gaydos After Dark Program. The next morning, bidding concluded shortly after an interview with Paul Stull, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Arizona State Credit Union. Listeners called in their bids and updates were posted on www.ktar.com.

The winning bidder received a premium ticket package with related hospitality, generously donated by Arizona State Credit Union. The package included two tickets on the lower level in the 20 to Goal area and entrance for two to a VIP Party before and after the game. The pre-game party hosted celebrities including Hall of Fame Defensive Back Ronnie Lott (who also flipped the ceremonial coin toss) and 1979 Rookie of the Year Otis Anderson.
