Clarke Auction Monday March 10 – Pre-Columbian to Mid-Centurion (and everything in between)

LARCHMONT, NY – Clarke Auctions announces its end-of-winter sale with over 400 lots of fresh-to-market estate items from Stamford, Connecticut; Park and Fifth Avenues, New York; Teaneck, New Jersey; as well as the Greater New York region.

Known for Mid-century Modern, this Clarke sale will include Robesjohn Gibbings extension table; Paul Evans mixed metal coffee table; Paul McCobb cabinet, bed and side chairs; Roy Sheldon table; Kurt Ostervig bookcases; John Stuart Frankl design cork top end tables; Hans Wegner wall unit with drop-front desk; Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin swivel chairs; Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen Ant chairs; Eiffel Tower wire chairs; Dunbar brass and wood coffee table; a possibly Karl Springer parchment chest and offset mirror, and much more.

Other highlights include a mother and baby bronze by American scuptor Bessie Vonnoh; a large bronze of dogs by Louis Riche and great vintage paintings, including a mystery in a Newcomb-Macklin frame. Decorative arts include old Toby Jugs; Palissy Majolica; black mark Beleek, Waterford stemware; Sterling; Russian silver and enamel boxes; bronze dancing bear candelbra with inset shell finger bowls, possibly Russian; and vintage fur coats;

Pre-C? An estate from Fifth Avenue uncovered a collection of large pre-Columbian pottery figures.

Antique and traditional furnishings include massive carved French Doors with hardware and knobs; an antique Louis XVI bed, possibly period; a R.J. Horner mahogany bookcase; a Charak serpentine plant stand; antique and semi-antique Oriental carpets; an antique English Globe on stand; pairs of lamps; older stained glass chandeliers; crystal chandeliers; an antique Venetian mirror , and a vintage 44″ model of the yacht America
