Claudine Paluzzi, Indiana Artist Debuts at Antique Helper

Indianapolis, Indiana) Dan Ripley announces the offering of works by Indiana artist Claudine Paluzzi-Kelsey (American, born 1931) in Antique Helper’s the Spring Mission to Modern/Twentieth Century Design auction on Sunday, March 30th.

A well-known art educator in Indianapolis, Paluzzi taught at IUPUI for thirty years, and spent many years as an instructor at the Indianapolis Art League, the Indiana School for the Deaf, Marion College, and the Indianapolis Museum of Art. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art from John Herron Art Institute in Indianapolis and received a Master of Art Education from Indiana University. Throughout the 1960s and 70s, she was the recipient of numerous grants and scholarships. Paluzzi was Artist in Residence at various locations across Central Indiana and worked and studied in Rome and New York City.

She was employed as court artist for Indianapolis television channels 13 and 59. Thousands of viewers witnessed the trials of Bret Kimberlin (a.k.a. the Speedway Bomber), Mike Tyson, and the 500 Mile Race Winner Dispute through her documentation.
Among her public installations and commissions she lists Methodist Hospital, Brebeuf High School, Tuchman Cleaners, the Echrich Meat Company and the Children’s Bureau. Over the years, she has created dozens of private commissioned child portraits and sculptures.

One-woman exhibitions have been mounted at Indiana University, Purdue University and the Indiana State House. She has been an exhibitor at the Hoosier Salon, the Indiana State Fair, the 500 Festival, and in Muncie and Richmond. Her work is included in the permanent collections of educational institutions throughout the state of Indiana.

From Expressionism to Assemblage to Pop Art, Paluzzi’s work testifies that she was at the forefront of the important artistic movements of the 1960s and 70s. The diversity of her work demonstrates a clear artistic vision and cutting edge style. The offerings in Antique Helper’s March 30 auction represent a sampling of her styles and techniques.

Antique Helper staff is honored to be the first to offer Ms. Paluzzi’s art at auction. “We are confident that others will share our enthusiasm for this talented artist’s amazing body of work,” says staff member Andrea Hastings, who has worked closely with Paluzzi through the consignment process. “The artwork featured on March 30 represents only a small portion of her work. We are very excited to be offering more of her work in future auctions as well.”
