$100 Million Worth of Comics Sold in Heritage Auctions

PUBLISHED 26 July 2008

Dallas, TX – “We’re very proud to announce that we recently surpassed the $100 million mark for comics and original comic art sold at auction,” said Barry Sandoval, Director of Operations, Comics , for Dallas-based Heritage Auction Galleries. “Additionally, our weekly Internet-only auctions have recently passed the $20 million mark.”

“Originally known as the leading auctioneer of rare coins, Heritage’s first foray into the field of popular culture was with their initial auction of Comics, Original Comic Art, and Vintage Movie Posters, held in November 2001,” said Sandoval. “Since that time, we’ve earned several Guinness World Records, sold the collections of Stan Lee, Academy Award-winning actor Nicolas Cage, and GI Joe creator Don Levine, set price records in all categories, and have become the unquestioned world leader in this exciting field. As we set our sights on the $200 million dollar mark, the future of this hobby looks bright.”

Heritage’s next Vintage Comic and Comic Art Signature® auction will be held August 7-8, 2008, in Dallas, Texas. For more information, please visit www.HA.com.
