J.B. Robison to Auction Contents of Shangri-La Resort and Convention Center

J.B. Robison Auctioneers-Realtors (www.jbrauctions.com) has announced a six-day auction of the contents of the Shangri-La Resort and Convention Center, according to J.B. Robison, auctioneer.

Robison explained that the contents of the Main Lodge, Conference Center and Recreation Center would all be up for auction. “There is an enormous volume and variety of merchandise inside these buildings,” said Robison, “We’ll be selling everything, including removable fixtures.”

Opened in 1964 at the tip of Monkey Island on Grand Lake in Northeast Oklahoma, Shangri-La Resort enjoys a rich history. In its day, the resort played host to the National Governor’s Convention and was depicted in the novel “Lost Horizons” by James Hilton.

“Everyone in the region has a Shangri-La memory,” commented Robison. “From weddings and reunions to balls, proms and parties.”

The Shangri-La property remains in operation with two championship golf courses rated 4.5 stars by Golf Digest.

Robison explained, “The owners are ready to clear the grounds for future development. Part of the Main Lodge was razed a few years ago, but the biggest part is still there and full of stuff. It will be coming down as well as the Conference and Recreational Center buildings. The Conference Center alone is 50,000 square feet, and I believe it’s the smallest of the three buildings.”

The buildings contain three commercial kitchens with walk-in coolers and freezers, hundreds of chairs, tables of all types, linens, glassware and china. “We have about everything you would need to seat 1,000 of your close friends for dinner!” Robison said.

The auction will also include: displays, decorative items, counters, bars, shelving, pianos, recreation equipment, audio/visual equipment, portable stages, meeting room equipment, exercise equipment, saunas, lockers, commercial laundry equipment, maid carts, and contents from 25 hotel rooms.

In addition, over 100 new sinks will be up for auction, along with new vinyl wallpaper, elevators, fire doors, hvac units, ice machines, lighting fixtures, computers, office equipment and furniture.

The public is invited to preview auction Saturdays and Sundays at 5pm. The auction will take place over six days, beginning Tuesday, March 24 at 8 am.
