Quinn’s Dec. 2 Fine Jewelry Auction to Fund Student Scholarships

Quinn’s Auction Galleries will conduct a Wednesday, Dec. 2 Fine Jewelry sale to benefit the Arlington Community Foundation, which provides college scholarships to students from Arlington County, Virginia.

The array of approximately 400 rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces and brooches is from the Estate of Gloria A. Steffan, whose son, Brian J. Steffan, decided to honor his mother’s memory by selling her extensive jewelry collection to create a living scholarship in her name.

Mr. Steffan said he particularly wanted his mother’s collection to benefit students in Arlington. “She loved Arlington and she loved the arts,” he explained, “so this auction is a perfect way to tie the two together. We hope everyone in the area will help us to make the scholarship fund a reality for many years to come.”

On Monday, Nov. 30, Quinn’s will host a special cocktail party and auction preview from 6-8 p.m. Interested members of the community, potential bidders and all media are invited to join the festive gathering at Quinn’s gallery, located at 431 N. Maple St., Falls Church. The entire Steffan jewelry collection, which includes diamonds and other precious stones set in platinum, white and yellow gold, and sterling silver, will be on display. The collection also includes men’s rings and a few men’s vintage wristwatches.

“We are honored to have been chosen to help with this important fundraiser,” said Quinn’s co-owner Matthew Quinn. “We take great pride in being part of this community and having the opportunity to help area high school students realize their dream of attending college. We hope for a strong local turnout at the auction in support of the Steffan Estate’s very generous charitable gift.” Quinn noted that 80 percent of the net proceeds from the Dec. 2 jewelry sale will go directly to The Gloria A. Steffan Scholarship Fund.

All forms of bidding will be available during the auction, including by phone and live via the Internet. Those attending the cocktail party preview may also leave absentee bids on any item to be auctioned. Questions about any lot in the sale may be directed to Matthew Quinn at 703-532-5632 or e-mailed to [email protected].
