Tim Burton Film Props for Bonhams & Butterfields Entertainment Memorabilia Auction

On June 26, 2011, Bonhams & Butterfields’ Entertainment Memorabilia auction in Los Angeles will offer iconic props, concept drawings and storyboards from the award-winning Tim Burton film The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993). The sale of these groundbreaking items is timed to coincide with a major retrospective of Burton’s work at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

The Nightmare Before Christmas, a unique, stop-motion musical, won a Golden Globe and a Hugo Award for Best Original Score and was nominated for an Academy Award®. Items of note from the film offered in the June 26th auction include a screen used sleigh prop (est. $15,000-20,000); a pastel storyboard of Sally, the rag doll, and the mad Professor (est. $3,000 -4,000); a pastel storyboard of Jack Skellington discovering Christmas Town (est. $2,800-3,500); a pastel storyboard of Oogie Boogie, the gambling bogeyman (est. $2,500-3,500); the reindeer plans prop (est. $2,000-3,000); a reindeer puppet (est. $2,000-3,000); a watercolor, pen and ink concept drawing of citizens from Halloween Town offering to help Jack Skellington with his new fascinating idea of Christmas (est. $1,800-2,200); and a complete set with puppet of Sally and her Herb Patch used in the production of the film. The set can be seen in the film when Sally visits the graveyard herb patch to collect poisonous herbs (est. $20,000-25,000).
