George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film Auction

Proxibid (www.proxibid.com), the world’s largest real auction marketplace, will provide live online bidding when a collection of high-end photographic prints and books crosses the auction block to benefit the George Eastman House International Museum of Photography and Film. The live auction, featuring auctioneer Denise Bethel, senior vice president and director of the Photographs Department at Sotheby’s New York, will take place Monday, October 3 at 7:00 p.m. Eastern. More than 50 historic and contemporary photographs will be available for online bidding during this live auction webcast. All works available in this auction were donated by artists, dealers and collectors. Collectors from across the globe will have the opportunity to bid live online on celebrated pieces including:
• Lot A: Henry Miller, Writer, Pacific Palisades, California, September 24, 1968, by Richard Avedon, Gelatin silver print;
• Lot 6: Frida (Blue Dress), Nickolas Muray, 1938, Carbon pigment print;
• Lot 20: The Whole Day on the Beach (Summertime in Egypt), F.C. Gundlach, 1966, Dye transfer print;
• Lot 21: Coco Chanel 1962, Douglas Kirkland, 1962, Archival pigment print;
• Lot 34: Martha Graham: Lamentation, 1935, Barbara Morgan, 1935, Gelatin silver print.

George Eastman house is the world’s oldest museum of photography, and also serves as an educational institution and center for preservation, offering degree-granting graduate programs in photographic and motion picture film preservation. Proceeds raised in this auction will enable the museum to maintain its extensive collections of photographs, camera technology, motion pictures and related objects.
