AROUND 150 LOTS OF ORIENTAL OBJECTS, ORIGINAL ARTWORK, DECORATIVE ACCESSORIES, MORE WILL BE SOLD AT FINNEY’S AUCTION SERVICE, NOV. 12th

The expected top lot is a gilt bronze work by the sculptor Raoul Larche (est. $20,000-$30,000).

(SCHODACK, N.Y.) – Coming on the heels of a successful estate sale on Oct. 29, at which a massive single-owner collection in a variety of categories was sold to a packed house of bidders, Finney’s Auction Service will conduct its annual Fall Unreserved Antique & Art Auction on Saturday, Nov. 12, in the firm’s Schodack gallery, located 15 minutes from Albany.

Approximately 150 quality, mostly fresh-to-the-market lots – many of them Oriental objects, original artworks (to include oil on canvas paintings, bronzes and marble sculptures), pottery pieces, decorative accessories and more — will cross the block. “Unreserved” is the key word for bidders going into this auction – everything will sell, regardless of the final gavel price.

The expected top lot of the sale is a large and important gilt bronze work by the French Art Nouveau sculptor Raoul Larche, titled La Mer (The Sea). It is estimated to bring $20,000-$30,000. The statue stands 29 inches tall and is 32 inches wide and was executed around 1900. It is signed and numbered by Mr. Larche and is in excellent overall condition, with foundry marks.

Vithal (Indian, 1935-1992), unframed, dated 1966 and measuring 3 feet by 2 feet (est. $1,500-$2,500).

Also offered will be a signed Husain (Indian) ink self-portrait, measuring 16 inches by 15 inches and in very good condition (est. $2,500-$3,500); an original oil on canvas painting by a Russian artist, 27 inches by 20 inches and signed and titled on the back (est. $250-$350); and a marble statue of a nude woman with peacock light on a 24 inch by 16 inch base (est. $250-$350).

Bronzes will feature a Zuniga depiction of a nude woman bending over, 12 inches tall (est. $1,500-$2,500); and a bronze rendering of a woman with an arrow. From the pottery category comes a Newcomb College pottery tile titled The White Rabbit (and evoking the character from Alice in Wonderland), measuring 4 ½ inches by 4 ¾ inches (est. $1,500-$2,500).

Decorative accessories will include an impressed Capron Valluoris French vase in very good condition, measuring 14 ¼ inches by 10 ¼ inches (est. $1,000-$2,000); a set of four large Gothic hanging lights made from Carmel Slag glass and gilted metal and measuring 44 ½ inches tall by 13 inches in diameter (est. $600-$1,200); and an early gilt wall clock.

The auction will begin promptly at 11 a.m. (EST). Previews will be held on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 10-11, from 10-4, and on auction day, Nov. 12, from 9 a.m. until the first gavel comes down.
