(PLATTSBURG, Mo.) – An inaugural auction that will strengthen the breadth and reach of Mayo Auction & Realty in Missouri’s strategic St. Joseph-to-Plattsburg corridor is now online (at www.auctionbymayo.com) and will end Thursday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. (CDT) Mayo Auction & Realty is already an auction powerhouse in Kansas City and many parts of Missouri and Kansas.

The inaugural sale is being billed as an Internet-only affair, but bidders may participate live, at 205 North East Street in Plattsburg. Offered are around 275 lots, pulled from prominent local estates and collections and featuring a wide range of tools and equipment, antiques and collectibles, household appliances and furniture. Also being sold is a red 2008 Pontiac G6 car.

It will be the first time that Mayo Auction & Realty is working exclusively with Shannon McQuerrey, an established Plattsburg auctioneer. “We are happy to have Shannon join our team and look forward to working with him on future sales in Plattsburg,” said Robert Mayo of Mayo Auction & Realty. “With his experience and expertise, we can only get stronger in that region.”

Mayo said the overall strategy is to strengthen his firm’s position in Missouri and Kansas, where Mayo Auction & Realty is already active, with an eye on possibly expanding into other neighboring states. “We’re providing comprehensive services in the area and attracting great consignments, too,” he said. “We’d also like to add additional auctioneers to join our fine team.”

The auction underway illustrates Mayo’s point about attracting quality consignments. The tools and equipment include a Troy Bilt riding lawnmower, Smithy & Atlas Press Company milling machines, a Snapper snow blower, a Clarke mig welder, Ryobi cordless power tools, an RBI Industries router table, Craftsman tool boxes and hand tools, an IMS drill press and more.

The household appliances and furniture feature a Whirlpool Duet front-load washer and dryer, a stainless steel Frigidaire freezer, a GE refrigerator, a library table, dressers, rocking chairs, a Hoosier-style cabinet, bedroom sets, end tables, floor lamps, dinettes, patio furniture and more. “There’s quality furniture and home décor for every room in the house,” Mayo said.

The collectibles and miscellaneous category includes cast iron wagon wheels, an antique typewriter, vintage cameras, stoneware crocks, Perfection kerosene heaters, kitchen primitives, assorted glassware, SCUBA gear, firearms ammunition, a Dee Zee dog box, a dog run and more. Additional tools and equipment will feature multiple scroll saws, wood and metal lathes, radial saws, planers, grinders, sanders, band saws, a large air compressor and a two-ton engine hoist.
