The sculpture will be one of many works of art and decorative accessories to cross the block.

(BOYNTON BEACH, Fla.) – A life-size bronze sculpture of John Lennon, by the Cuban artist Jose Ramon Villa Soberon (b. 1950), showing the former Beatle in a standing position with his hands in his pockets, is one of the expected top lots at an auction slated for Dec. 8 by Elite Decorative Arts, at the firm’s gallery located in the Quantum Town Center in Boynton Beach.

The sculpture, titled John Lennon II and signed to the end of one of the pant legs, is dated 2002 and measures 69 inches tall, on a 5 ½ inch base. It is expected to sell for $20,000-$30,000 and is one of 330 lots that will come up for bid. Offered will be a magnificent array of antiques, to include fine artwork, porcelain, estate jewelry, silver, bronze, art glass, ivory and more.

“Headlining this auction will be a wonderful collection of artwork, plus we also have some great decorative arts, bronzes and estate jewelry,” said Scott Cieckiewicz of Elite Decorative Arts. Previews will be held Friday, Dec. 7, from 11-5, and Saturday, Dec. 8, from 11-1. The first gavel will come down Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. (EST). Internet bidding will be facilitated by LiveAuctioneers.com and Artfact.com.

Another artwork certain to attract intense bidder interest is an oil on canvas rendering of a woman wearing an Art Deco-style dress with flowers, by the renowned painter Francis Luis Mora (Am., 1874-1940). The work, signed lower right and dated 1924, is titled Flapper in Green and Gold. It measures 38 ¼ inches by 30 ¼ inches and is expected to sell for $10,000-$15,000.

The auction’s top lot could very well be an original oil on board painting by John Sloan (Am., 1871-1951). The untitled painting depicts a street scene with cars and buildings. It is signed to the lower right and dated 1930. Mounted in a gilded frame and measuring 25 inches by 20 inches, the work was consigned by a Palm Beach collector and may bring $80,000-$100,000.

An expected star of the decorative arts group is a Tiffany Studios bronze and glass 12-light Lily lamp (est. $20,000-$25,000). The lamp holds all 12 original Tiffany glass shades and the bottom is marked Tiffany Studios (N.Y.) and is numbered 382. Measuring 22 inches tall by 16 ½ inches wide and weighing around 16 lbs., the lamp is certain to be pursued by collectors.

An oil on canvas still life of flowers in a vase by Soren Emil Carlsen (Am., 1853-1932), carries a pre-auction estimate of $8,000-$12,000 and has been appraised by Christie’s, the New York auction house. The work is signed lower left and dated 1877. It is mounted on a gilded floral scrolled frame with a plaque to the lower center and measures 20 inches by 16 inches.

Rounding out just a few of the auction’s anticipated top lots are an oil painting by Luigi Pastega (It., 1858-1927), depicting a courting couple, signed lower left and mounted in a gilded frame (est. $10,000-$12,000); and a handsome bronze abstract sculpture by Allan Houser (Am., 1914-1994), numbered 3/20, dated 1983, signed en verso, 14 ¾ inches tall (est. $8,000-$10,000).

All purchases will be subject to a 15 percent buyer’s premium (for in-house and phone bids) or 18 percent if bidding online. Phone and absentee bids will be accepted.
