Rare Film of Paul von Hindenberg Discovered

(Lincoln, UK) Unique Auctions Fine Antiques & Collectors sale on Sunday 28t April (9am GMT) includes a rare film of Paul von Hindenburg, Prussian-German field marshal who later became the second President of Germany.

germanstillsmainsssThe film was discovered along with other film footage in a collection of German ephemera mainly from the 1930s. The film is unusual in that it is not possible to play it on any known projector. It appears to be double super 8mm film. The can the film came in was entitled ‘Hindenburg’ and it was thought initially that the film would be of the Hindenburg airship. Although the film has not yet been played, negative stills from the film have been captured and photographed.

The sale includes other German propaganda film footage and Gaumont British News film footage, a collection of 1930s German postcards, 1930s German collectors card albums, and a large collection of German 78rpm records. In the same sale is a collection of Nazi items including a large 14ft by 10ft Nazi flag, Nazi belt buckles and Nazi cap badges.
