Featuring The Dr. Lee Smith Collection and Rare New and Old World Wines

Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. will hold An Auction of Finest and Rarest Wines on May 17th, 18th and 19th. Valued at an estimated $6-9 million, this impressive three-day sale will feature 2,982 lots of incredible diversity and provenance.

Hart Davis Hart takes pride in offering well-stored wines with exceptional provenance and this auction certainly delivers. Bidders should take note of The Dr. Lee Smith Collection (lots 2241-2694) which boasts an incredible selection of rare Burgundy, classified Bordeaux and top Rhône wines. The collection launches with over 60 lots of top Bordeaux dating back to 1937. The showpiece of Dr. Smith’s collection is a vast array of exceptional Burgundy from top producers like Rousseau, DRC, Dujac, Raveneau, and Leflaive, among others. Highlights include a full case of 1990 La Tâche, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (est. $48,000-75,000); 6 bottles of 1990 Chambolle-Musigny, Les Amoureuses, Georges Roumier (est. $15,000-22,000); and 12 bottles of 2009 Richebourg, Hudelot-Noëllat (est. $6,000-9,000). White Burgundy collectors should browse the offerings carefully, as they will find a selection of Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey, including several magnums. Concluding Dr. Smith’s collection, bidders will find an array of top Rhône wines from Guigal, Rayas, Chave and more. Hart Davis Hart is honored to represent such a remarkable cellar. Dr. Smith acquired all wines upon or near release directly from limited sources, with receipts for virtually every bottle. Many of the wines were tucked away for years, completely unseen and untouched, with all wines being stored in ideal cellar conditions. Bidders should bid with confidence on this incredible collection of world-class wines of impeccable provenance.

Throughout HDH’s May catalog, bidders will find a plethora of exceptional bottles from Bordeaux and California. Bidders interested in Bordeaux will find over 800 lots from over 100 of the region’s top châteaux, with vintages dating from as far back as 1919.
