Hart Davis Hart to Hold Eighth Annual A Celebration of Burgundy Auction

Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. will host their eighth annual A Celebration of Burgundy auction on Friday, May 17th & Saturday, May 18th. This standout sale, devoted exclusively to the wines of Burgundy, is projected to be HDH’s largest Burgundy sale yet. It features 2,550 lots and is expected to garner $5.04-7.59 million. Worldwide demand for Burgundy is robust, and the scope of this auction is sure to attract bidders from around the globe. Bidders can participate by joining HDH in the auction room, or by utilizing their mobile app or auction website.

With a quick glance through the catalog, bidders will note the auction’s coverage of the region: 212 Burgundian domaines are represented, with vintages ranging from 1937 to 2017. The sale contains an extensive array of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, encompassing 187 lots spanning 73 vintages from 1942-2015. Included is an estimated $412,000-622,000 worth of Romanée-Conti and $391,600-582,400 of La Tâche. Other legendary estates represented in the sale include 159 lots of Armand Rousseau, 101 lots of Domaine Leroy, and 89 lots of Domaine Dujac.

Singular highlights of the sale include a 12-bottle 1999 DRC Assortment (lot 116, est. $48,000-75,000); 4 bottles of 1990 Vosne-Romanée, Cros Parantoux, Henri Jayer (lot 262, est. $35,000-55,000); a full case of 1962 La Romanée, Maison Leroy (lot 1287, est. $28,000-42,000); and 6 magnums of 2011 Chambertin Armand Rousseau (lot 1555, est. $19,000-28,000).

White Burgundy lovers will be pleased to find a methuselah (6L) of 2007 Montrachet, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (lot 1878, est. $35,000-55,000); 12 bottles of 2016 Meursault, Les Perrières, Coche-Dury (lot 2068, est. $22,000-32,000); and a single bottle of 1992 Montrachet, Domaine Leflaive (lot 1854, est. $4,500-6,500).

Of special note is a Jerobaom of 2001 Romanée-Conti, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti (lot 292, est. $60,000-90,000). This rare bottle, in its original wooden case, would be a centerpiece of any great collect. The proceeds of this lot will benefit the Share Our Strength charity which runs the No Kid Hungry Campaign. Funds raised from this lot will allow No Kid Hungry to assist schools and local organizations feed children year-round, working to expand school breakfast, afterschool, and summer meals programs.
