I was horrified to learn of the way it was taken from the Ripon Branch (RAF Leeming storage/maintenance hangar). We worked our socks off to keep it serviceable and presentable and really enjoyed displaying it up and down the country. The comments from the RBL higherarchy in Emails that it was not the image that they want to put out anymore (should be of the Eurofighter not a Spitfire, forget it). Granted, it did not raise huge amounts of money, (should have given us more time, a couple of years from now, then review it). It needs TLC and a crew that know how to handle its loading, unloading and assembly/disassembly routine. It can generate money and nostalgia in the right hands, I hope it does not end up as scrap and just another cheque in the RBL coffers.
