Quakes To Hold Online Jersey Auctions

On the heels of their parent club, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim hitting the road to face the powerful Boston Red Sox, the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes have opted to do a little housecleaning in the locker room by auctioning off select game-worn home, road, and throwback jerseys in week-long, online-only auction on their recently re-designed website, www.rcquakes.com.

The home jerseys are sleeveless tops with ‘Quakes’ written across the chest and the player’s last name and number on the back of the jersey. Road uniforms are sleeveless grey tops with “RC” (the Quakes road logo) in the upper right hand corner of the jersey. The throwback jerseys, worn on Opening Night and on select Tuesdays through the 2007 season, are sleeved white tops with pinstripes and ‘Quakes’ written across the chest in teal, the Quakes primary color during their 1993 inaugural season.

First on the block will be the home jerseys for five of the Quakes standout players from the recently completed campaign: OF Brad Coon, SS Hainley Statia, 1B Cliff Remole, OF Chris Pettit, and RHP Steve Marek.

Coon, 24, was a California League All-Star selection and stole 31 bases in just 74 games before earning a promotion to Double-A Arkansas. Statia, 21, listed before the season as the Angels’ 15th best prospect according to Baseball America, hit .288 in 135 games and earned distinction as the Angels’ Organizational Defensive Player of the Year. Remole, 24, hit .323 with runners in scoring position and .286 overall for the season. Marek, 23, listed prior to the season as the Angels’ fifth-best prospect according to Baseball America, was 8-10 with a 4.30 ERA in 25 starts. Pettit, 23, who was promoted to the Quakes in July after a scorching first-half at Low-A Cedar Rapids, hit nine homers for the Quakes to finish with a combined line of .327 with 18 homers and 95 RBI. The San Dimas resident also was named as the Angels’ Organizational Player of the Year and is currently playing in the prestigious Arizona Fall League as a member of the Surprise Rafters.

The opening bid for each jersey will be $120 and bid-ups will be made in $10 increments. Auctions will close exactly seven days after they open and shipping will incur an additional $5.99 on top of winning auction bids. After completion of each set of auctions, a new set of five jerseys will be posted by the next business day. Be sure and visit www.rcquakes.com often for the latest jersey auctions.
