Auction Network to Feature First Live, Interactive Auction – Continuing to expand the frontier of television entertainment, Auction Network ( will kick off its first live, interactive auction event on Tuesday, November 20, featuring the sale of rock memorabilia like a guitar sculpture designed for and signed by music legend Sir Paul McCartney and a Depeche Mode-inspired Gibson guitar. Broadcasting from downtown London, Julien’s Auctions’ Gibson GuitarTown London will air exclusively on Auction Network.

The charity auction will be comprised of 62 individual guitars with each Gibson SG guitar and 10-foot fiberglass Les Paul replica guitar sculpture personally signed by a variety of British Rock legends such as Rod Stewart, Ozzy Osbourne, Slash, The Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood and Depeche Mode. The Gibson guitars and sculptures gained popularity while on public display around Central London between June and September 2007. All proceeds will be split equally among the three benefiting charities: The Prince’s Trust, Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy and Teenage Cancer Trust.

Auction Network will broadcast the sale of these pieces of music history from the “indigO2” at the O2 (formally, “the Dome”) in London and offer live, interactive real-time bidding on all items. Auction Network’s special pre- and post-show highlights will include red carpet arrivals and words from the participating visual artists and benefiting charities.

Simultaneous with the live auction, viewers – or virtual auction attendees – can compete from anywhere around the globe to win the coveted auction items. While attendees of the live auction in London raise their paddles to signal a bid, virtual attendees only need to wield a click of the mouse to stay in the running. These live, online bids will be fielded by ringmen who relay the bid to the auctioneer in real time at the auction.

“We know that 16 percent of Internet users are now enjoying online TV programming. The highly interactive nature of our network, combined with our entertaining content, is what makes it truly revolutionary in both the auction and television industries,” said Pam McKissick, CEO of Auction Network. “Now, whether you’re in San Francisco or Paris or Tokyo, you can participate in the thrill of the auction as if you are in the room – or in this case, the magnificence of indigO2.”
