Woodland Ferry Vessel For Sale Online

Seaford – The Department of Transportation announces that the 40 year old-Woodland Ferry vessel has been listed for sale with Auction Liquidation Services, an online auction service (www.auctionlistservices.com). The online auction will be held February 1-6, 2008.

Interested persons should visit the website above, click on Equipment Facts (on the left of the screen) to bring up a virtual tour of how to bid. Bids will be accepted anytime during the online auction period of February 1-6, 2008.

Anyone wishing to submit a possible bid should inspect the vessel at the Woodland Ferry dock on January 29-31, 2008 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. The vessel is docked on the Seaford side of the Nanticoke River (off of Woodland Ferry and Woodland Church Road). Staff from the State of Delaware’s Surplus Services Section (under the Office of Management and Budget) and DelDOT personnel will be onsite during the inspection dates for anyone with questions.

Prospective bidders should note that the vessel must be removed from the site (by the buyer) no later than March 1, 2008.

In the coming months, construction will begin on the new docks, piers and pilings to accommodate the new six-car ferry, which is currently being built in Maryland. The new ferry is expected to be in operation by November 2008.
