The Ukrainian Museum in New York City will hold its “Gala Celebration of Spring” this Saturday, March 21, a benefit event that will take place for the first time in the Museum’s galleries.
Enjoy an elegant evening cocktail party with wine/champagne, hors d’oeuvres, and a Viennese table – catered by Soyuzivka chef and Culinary Institute of America graduate Andrij Sonevytsky – with musical accompaniment provided by the Askold Buk Trio (jazz) and violinist Marian Pidvirny.
The evening will include a special auction of works by a number of well-known artists, beginning with a lithograph by Alexander Archipenko, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, a watercolor by David Burliuk, known as the Father of Futurism in Ukraine and Russia, and three woodcuts by Jacques Hnizdovsky, arguably, the most popular of Ukrainian artists.
All of the artwork was donated to the Museum especially for this event. Estimated values so far range from a low of $175 to a high of $7,000 (the Archipenko estimate has not yet been posted).
All proceeds will benefit The Ukrainian Museum.
