LAS VEGAS – Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers , the world’s largest auctioneer of industrial equipment will mark its 50-year milestone in Las Vegas next week while conducting its first unreserved auction at its new Las Vegas, NV auction site March 13-14, combined with an auction in nearby Henderson, NV on March 15, 2008. At the Las Vegas site on March 13, Ritchie Bros. CEO Peter Blake will present Dave Ritchie, one of the founders of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, with a gold 50-year anniversary pin during a mid-morning ceremony in front of the auction crowd.
The auction and ceremony will take place the same time as ConExpo, the western hemisphere’s premier construction exhibition, held in Las Vegas, March 11-15, 2008.
“Conducting the first auction at our new Las Vegas regional auction unit at the same time as ConExpo and recognizing Dave Ritchie’s accomplishments in the construction industry make it an historic day for Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers and our thousands of customers around the world,” said Jim Rotlisberger, Regional Manager for Ritchie Bros.
“There’s a great selection of trucks and equipment being sold during the auction, and we look forward to welcoming attendees to our new auction site,” Mr. Rotlisberger said.
There are over 1,300 items being sold at the two auctions. Featured truck and equipment items include: nine unused 2009 Kenworth T800 wide nose truck tractors; seven 2007 Kenworth T800B wide nose truck tractors; over 40 hydraulic excavators; and more than 30 lowboy trailers. The Henderson sale will include nine massive rock trucks as well as a nice selection of earthmoving equipment.
Darren Petersen, President and CEO of Las Vegas-based Diamond Construction, is selling a large portion of his well-maintained fleet of tractors, scrapers and motor graders in the upcoming auction.
“At the end of the day, our pride is in how we take care of our fleet, ” said Mr. Petersen. “Our in-house capabilities include a heavy equipment repair shop and paint shop, and so we have taken care of our equipment.”
“Most of the equipment that we are selling is late model, low hour equipment and we’ve also prepared pretty significant maintenance reports for the lions share of what we’re selling in the auction. Those reports are with Ritchie Bros. for potential buyers to review.”
Like all Ritchie Bros. auctions, this will be an unreserved auction, meaning there are no minimum bids or reserve prices – everything sells to the highest bidder on sale day, regardless of price. Everything is sold “as is, where is.” Registration is free at the auction site and starts a few days before the auction.
The Las Vegas auction site is located at 8400 N. Interstate Hwy 15, Las Vegas, and the Henderson auction site is located at 801 Roma Hills Dr., in Henderson. Auction start time each day is 8 a.m. local time. Equipment pictures and more information are available at www.rbauction.com.
