On Sunday, 30 March 2008 at 12noon, the general public will have the opportunity to secure an item from Pro Hart’s eclectic decorative arts collection when Bonhams & Goodman conducts a sale of his estate in its Adelaide rooms.
Australian Art Icon Kevin Charles (Pro) Hart died in April 2006 and his loss to the Australian art scene has been felt ever since. What is generally unknown however is that Pro Hart was an avid collector of art and objects himself.
The collection of some 700 lots comprises Matchbox cars of yesteryear including a rare and collectable Matchbox International Collectors Association Commemorative Australian Convention 1931 Morris Courier Van decorated with images by Pro Hart himself. Also included are tin toys and clockwork tin toys dating from the 1920s to the 1950s, Oriental porcelain including many blue and white Ming period pieces, a 100 lot paperweight collection, sculptures, continental English and Australian furniture, clocks, Moorcroft pottery, silver and jewellery.
The executors of the estate of Pro Hart have instructed auctioneer James Bruce to clear all items so that the family may concentrate on the further development and display of the Pro Hart Gallery in Broken Hill.
