Neuberger Museum Of Art Spring Auction

Purchase, NY – This year’s spring auction to benefit the Neuberger Museum of Art Purchase College is all about paper – art works on the wall, décor, and the live auction.

At “The Paper Ball, Too,” the environment counts, so everything will be sustainable and green. “The Paper Ball, Too” will be held Saturday, May 3, 2008, 6:30 pm to midnight. Proceeds will provide essential support for the exhibitions and art education programs at the Neuberger Museum of Art.

The centerpiece of this festive party will be a live auction of 30 works on paper, made of paper, or that incorporate paper — paintings, prints, photographs, drawings, collages, and sculptures – and many by well-known contemporary artists. Whether you are a new collector or an established one, there’s something here for everyone. The works will be on view from April 21 to May 2 at an “Auction Preview” at the Museum, 12-5 pm, Tuesday through Sunday; and online at www.neuberger.org. (Look for the Paper Ball icon.) Early bids will be accepted throughout the preview period.

Some of the participating artists include: Joseph Beuys, Emily Eveleth, Mary Frank, Ralph Gibson, George Green, Sol Lewitt, Gordon Moore, Eduardo Navarro, Bruce Robbins, Jack Sturges, and Joan Snyder.

The evening’s décor will consist of signed paper table lamps by Noguchi, seen throughout the party space, that will be available for purchase after the event. Cool ivory linens and pressed green leaves will grace the tabletops. The delicious food will be prepared by Standing Room Only and served on bamboo and silver trays. Even the invitations – made of 100% recycled paper and soy-based inks – reflect the green theme. Chairing the event is O. Anthony Maddalena of Pleasantville, a senior vice president at Morgan Stanley.

The Paper Ball begins at 6:30 pm with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, supper, music, Silent Auction, and the Live Auction preview. The Live Auction of 30 modern and contemporary works on paper begins at 8:30 pm; dessert and dancing follow at 9:30 pm. Tickets range begin at $150 each for the party and auction. Other packages include tickets and journal ads. For further information, please call Nina Hepburn at 914-251-6115 or email her at [email protected].
