NEW YORK, NY – Alison Sweeney, host of “The Biggest Loser” and mainstay of “Days of Our Lives,” kicked off a celebrity auction of jeans, as hundreds of jeans and shirts dangled from clotheslines above the streets around Times Square today.
Sweeney auctioned off Ryan Seacrest’s jeans to benefit the Clothes Off Our Back Foundation. The remaining celebrity jeans from Miley Cyrus, Nick Lachey, Minnie Driver, Ashlee Simpson, Terrence Howard, Lauren Conrad, and many more are available at www.clothesoffourback.org. Also, a sweepstakes will be held at www.washingmyjeans.com to win the new GE Profile Frontload Washer and Dryer with SmartDispense™ Technology, which holds up to six months of detergent and fabric softener. In fact, the new washer can clean 17 pairs of jeans in just one load and 4,420 jeans before needing a refill.
The short video — available at www.newsinfusion.com — captures an exciting street-level view of the live auction in the middle of Times Square as pedestrians, commuters, tourists and taxicabs gawked at the spectacle of garments hanging like laundry in the streets.
Sweeney’s jeans are also being auctioned off online and although she is excited, Sweeney was reluctant to surrender her jeans. “You have to understand, I live in my jeans! I love that they have a darker color, I can wear them dressed up but they’re so comfy too. I’ve worn these jeans to several movie premieres, because they’re so perfect. Wear them well — I’ll miss them,” Sweeney said.
The Clothes Off Our Back Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by actors and philanthropists Jane Kaczmarek (“Malcolm In The Middle,” “Raising the Bar”) and Bradley Whitford (“The West Wing,” “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip”), whose efforts, along with their celebrity and designer friends have helped improve the lives of children across the globe.
