Celebrating important 19th and early 20th century New Zealand works of art, the September sale will include major works by leading artists dating from the early years of New Zealand’s colonial history.
Portraits of Maori by Charles Frederick Goldie and Gottfried Lindauer together with historical views of early New Zealand will be the focus of this specialist sale.
Strong competition for works in the Richard & Rhoda Potton collection, a private collection historical New Zealand works sold by Webb’s in March 2008, together with demand in the broader market, indicate a growth in interest from collectors for important New Zealand early works.
The sale will also feature works by foreign artists with a particular focus on 19th century European and Continental paintings.
