Midcentury Design
From the Hotel Pierre suite of Lord Hanson, Clarke features a coromandel desk signed Philip Daniel, a burl walnut and chrome desk, a pair of glass and tiger-striped lucite side tables, a burl and chrome console, and a suite of custom lacquer pieces.
Antiques
A 19th C. drop-leaf desk/side table, a 19th C. gilt copper horse-form weathervane, a 19th C. flip-top game table and a mahogany writing stand, each with hairy paw feet; a marquetry center table, an early – possibly 18th C. – wingback chair, a Louis XV-Style 19th C. bronze-mounted cabinet and a period Regency cabinet.
Lighting
A unusually fine collection of antique and midcentury chandeliers, torchieres, and lamps such as a 19th C. bronze chandelier with figural mounts rescued from a restaurant closed as a result of 9/11, a silver-gilt chandelier with rock crystals, a large and spectacular Victorian Cut Glass chandelier, and Murano chandeliers – over twenty chandeliers in all. Lamps include Hanson estate pieces such as pairs of Murano and Lucite; unusual column-form alabaster, clear and gold-flecked Murano, possibly Venini; a Victorian oil lamp, and midcentury torchieres from the Hanson estate.
Decorative Arts
Highlights include a pair of exceptional handmade stained glass panels from the 9/11 restaurant; a dozen Limoges bird plates; a pair of bronze figural and floral candelabra, Russian bisque polychrome ethnic figures, a bisque bust after Houdon of a boy on a variegated marble base, a Vienna bronze of black children, a set of Victorian parasols, a Blackamoor stand, a large Steuben aurene vase, a large Gorham sterling and porcelain vase, a 19th C. portrait of Napolean on porcelain in a great giltwood frame, a Steuben aurene vase, and a decorative Gorham sterling and porcelain vase.
Sterling and Russian
A collection of Russian silver including a ladle with an embedded 1798 ruble, Russian silver and enameled pieces; an antique gold cigarette case, a large collection of silver hollowware among 25 lots of silver.
Fine Art
19th C. British watercolors from Charles Green and George H Dodgson; a fine early 19th C. signed French pastoral genre scene; a signed Thomas Cartier bronze of a mounted warrior; a signed oil of a rabbi, a possibly old master crucifixion oil; a Lord Hanson estate lithograph, large signed marine paintings, a signed marsh ducks scene, a signed midcentury abstract, a Manuel Carbonell patinated sculpture, and a signed Nota Koslowsky oil.
