VSE Corporation and Rick Levin & Associates, Inc. will conduct an auction of seized and forfeited property on behalf of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. The auction will take place at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2009, at the VSE Warehouse, in Miami, FL.
The agencies that are also participating include: U.S. Customs & Border Protection, Immigration & Customs Enforcement, Internal Revenue Service and Secret Service. Proceeds from the auction are returned to these agencies through the Treasury Asset Forfeiture Fund for the continuation of their law enforcement efforts and may also be used to pay restitution to victims in some cases.
Included in this auction is a 1983 Learjet 25D, which was seized from convicted tax thief Frank L. Amodeo. Amodeo is currently serving a 22 year sentence as a part of a plea deal for cheating the government out of over $181 million in taxes. This case is one of the largest tax frauds ever committed against the U.S. Government and the proceeds from the sale of Amodeo’s Learjet, as well as his 2006 Mercedes CLS55 AMG, will be contributed to the Asset Forfeiture Fund.

Main previews of these items will take place at the VSE Miami Warehouse located at 1173 NW 159th Drive on Monday, August 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Tuesday, August 4, from 9 a.m. to noon. Bidders may also register for the auction during these main preview times at the VSE Warehouse. Registration begins at 8 a.m. day of sale.
Previews for the Learjet will take place at National Liquidators/North Perry Airport located at 602 SW 77th Way in Pembroke Pines, Florida on both Monday and Tuesday August 3rd and 4th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The jet’s engines will be started at approximately noon on both days.
There are no property previews on sale day for any property in the auction.
