Hart Davis Hart Sells 100% of Lots for $3.6 Million As Wines From The Cellar of NHL Star Mario Lemieux Soar Above Estimates

Active bidding online, global participation, strong demand.

(Chicago, IL) – Bidding at Hart Davis Hart remained strong this weekend as an auction of fine & rare wines brought $3,605,398 against a pre-sale estimate of $2,181,630 – $3,259,730. A selection of rare Bordeaux from the cellar of Hockey Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux brought intense bidding. Twelve lots of 2000 Château Cheval Blanc estimated at $68,000-$102,000 brought in an aggregate of $123,683. Overall Mr. Lemieux’s collection brought $639,122 against a pre-sale estimate of $382,700-$571,350.

hart-davis-hart-wine.jpgChâteau Lafite-Rothschild remained in strong demand, with the 1982 vintage achieving $38,850 per case and the 2000 vintage achieving $21,510 per case. The 89 lots of Château Lafite on offer were estimated at $415,500- $622,600 and achieved an aggregate of $717,239. The auction featured a broad selection of 2000 Bordeaux, all of which attracted spirited bidding. Californian wines performed remarkably well, with lots of Abreu, Harlan Estate, Paul Hobbs, Scarecrow, Sloan, and Bond hammering over the high estimate.

Eager bidders participated from 42 states and the District of Columbia as well as Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Iceland, Japan, Mexico, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, South Korea, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Venezuela. A number of collectors bid live over the internet and by telephone, helping Hart Davis Hart attain a 100% sold rate once again.
