The Colorado Auction Bid Calling Championships will be held on Friday, January 8, 2010, from 7 – 10:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend this event, which is sure to entertain all members of the family young and old. Attendees can participate in bidding on a variety of items such as computers, TVs, and electronics or just come as a spectator and watch the fun.
The Bid Calling Championships will kickoff the Colorado Auctioneers Association’s (CAA’s) annual Convention to be held January 8-10, 2010, in Denver, Colo. This year’s Convention is dedicated to Chuck Cumberlin, a Hall of Fame Auctioneer.
The CAA exists to promote the auction method of marketing through professional and ethical auctioneering practices in the Colorado region. Membership is open to auctioneers, auction companies, and associates with an interest in this age-old method of marketing. The convention is to help educate auction professionals to stay up to date with technology and techniques within their profession to be of greater service to the public.
The Convention will feature vendor displays and workshops for the auctioneers and guest speakers who will educate attendees on such topics as voice care, online technology and bid calling. In addition, there will be panel discussions on license law, marketing, and the best way to conduct online auctions.
Although real estate is the fastest growing segment in the auctioneering profession, traditionally everything from automobiles and livestock to antiques have been sold at auctions for many years.
Contests will include Colorado Bid Calling Championships, First Timer’s Bid Calling Championships, and a Fun Auction.
Lunch and dinner will be provided by the Colorado Auctioneers Association. In the evenings there will be social mixers with a cash bar followed by dinner.
The convention is being held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at the Denver International Airport, Denver, Colo. It begins Friday January 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., and pre-registration for Auctioneers is strongly encouraged.
