Superman Comic Auctioned for $1.5 Million

A 1938 Superman comic has sold for $1.5 million in an online auction.

The comic, which originally cost 10 cents, was sold by comic experts ComicConnect.com and went to an anonymous bidder. It is one of around only 100 copies of this issue, but was in very good condition.

Stephen Fishler founder of ComicConnect explained that the comic had been buried in a stack of old movie magazines for 50 years hence had been protected. When these magazines were sold at an auction in Pittsburgh, the buyer unearthed the rarity.

“It’s the Holy Grail. It’s the most sought-after comic book,” said Fishler.

ComicConnect.com is based in New York.
