200 items belonging to the founder of the fashion house Laura Ashley have been auctioned for £18,000 by Auctioneers McCartneys, in Ludlow, Shropshire.
Auctioneer Daniel Fielder said: “I think there were people at the auction with a particular interest in Laura Ashley. There were certainly different faces in the room. We normally see the same dealers.
“The lots sold for about £18,000, but it was more than we were expecting. We anticipated the items would sell for £14,000.
“There was something for everyone, with lots from £10 and £15 to £1,100.”
The items were from the Ashley family home near Rhayader, Powys. Wales.
