The DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) will hold a real estate auction of DC Government-owned vacant property on Wednesday, June 30 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 801 Mount Vernon Pl. NW. The event will begin promptly at 2 p.m.
The auction, the second of its kind, will be administered by DHCD’s Property Acquisition and Disposition Division (PADD) and will be conducted by Alex Cooper Auctioneers Inc. under a contract with the Department.
Eighteen properties, including single-family and multi-family buildings and vacant lots, will be sold at the one-day auction to the highest bidder for the purpose of redeveloping the properties into habitable residences and adding those residences to the District of Columbia’s tax roll. The properties are located in Wards 1, 2, 5, 6, 7 and 8.
The auction is targeted to specific bidders: homeowners who intend to make the property a primary residence; non-profits; and DC-Certified Business Entities. Only bidders in these categories will be allowed to participate in the auction.
