Sothebys Finest and Rarest Wines Auction Totals $1,387,218s

Sothebys London Finest and Rarest Wines auction totaled $1,387,218 £861,626 ($1,387,218).

Stephen Mould, Head of Sotheby’s European Wine Department, said: “A solid end to one of our most successful first half years ever. We are already 70% up on last year’s total for the same period with sales in London exceeding £11,000,000. Yesterday’s auction saw a surge of interest for Domaine de la Romanée Conti and rare vintages of Pétrus. The First Growths as a group are now closing the gap on the high prices we have seen Lafite achieve over the last two years. We look forward to the autumn season when we have some very exciting auctions, including a Single Owner sale in London on 26 October valued in excess of £2,000,000.”
