Antik A.S., will auction exceptional paintings by the most important Modern & Contemporary Turkish Artists. The auction will take place on October 22, 2011 at the Swissotel the Bosphorus and will present selected 175 lots among the finest which ever to have appeared on the market for the first time. Special collection will be exhibited in Antik A.S. galleries until 22nd of October.
Burhan Dogancay Ribbon
One of the highlights being offered in the sale is titled “The Pianist”, a large spectacular canvas by Fahrel Nissa Zeid (1901-1991) one of the most important Turkish artists whose 3 paintings had fetched over 1,000,000 USD in Antik A.S. auction and Sotheby’s auctions. The artist’s museum quality canvas in upcoming auction has a 300,000 USD auction starting price. Also an untitled abstract by Zeid fomr 1949, one of the rarest and most important work by the artist ever to appear at auction, is expected to realize 400,000 to 600,000 USD. Another modern Turkish masterpiece which will be offered at auction is oil painting by Erol Akyavas. The opening bid for this exceptional work of art dated 1979, which belongs to Artist’s family collection is 100,000 USD.
Olgac Artam, auctioneer of the sale, said “the sale is giving buyers an opportunity to own museum quality masterpieces. The top lots Fahrel Nissa Zeid’s masterpieces are extraordinary paintings which has never been in the market before. Not only being monumental canvas’ from the artist’s most prominent period, the provenance is also very important. The paintings are from H.R.H. Prince Raad Zeid Al-Hussein’s collection. Such paintings are rarely seen outside of a museum.” Artam also invites all those who appreciate quality art to view the display before the sale.
“Ribbon”, which was painted by Burhan Do?ançay in 1972 carries an opening bid of 400,000 USD. There will also be other very special works on auction from the same artist’s series, Big Bucks, Doors and Walls.
