Concert Posters from the Fillmore and Avalon Ballrooms, Jimi Hendrix, the Grateful Dead, The Doors and others will be auctioned Sept. 14 at WeissAuctions.com.
The posters, handbills, tickets and programs will be part of a Hollywood and Music Memorabilia auction beginning with lot 1600 also including posters, photographs, autographs and memorabilia.
Some of the great rock and roll items include (2) tickets from Philadelphia Beatles Concerts, a 1966 card signed by The Who, a program for the only concert in New York with The Who, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin all performing on the same stage, a concert poster for the only time Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin performed on the same show, a rare Janis Joplin Oklahoma concert poster and progressive proof, a Sam & Dave 1967 boxing style cardboard concert poster, a rare 1969 Grateful Dead Portland OR concert poster, a Jimi Hendrix concert poster signed by the artist Rick Griffin and the #1 crew jersey from Fillmore east with a signed book.
Artwork on psychedelic posters of the 1960s have become iconic and valuable, and many of the great artists are represented here including Rick Griffin, Wes Wilson, David Singer, Stanley Mouse, Alton Kelley, Bob Masse and Victor Moscoso. This auction also represents concerts in New York, San Francisco, Vancouver, Boston, and other locales.
