Robert Buhler, president of MMI Public Relations (http://www.mmipublicrelations.com), a full-service public relations firm, has announced that the firm will sponsor Visual Art Exchange’s (VAE) upcoming For The Love Of Art auction and gala. Held Saturday, Feb. 2, the silent auction begins at 5 p.m., with a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m., coffee and dessert at 8 p.m., and the live auction starting at 8:45 p.m. The event will be held at the Raleigh Marriott City Center, located at 500 Fayetteville Street. The auction and gala will celebrate the creativity of North Carolina artists, and will allow guests the chance to bid on some of the Triangle’s finest pieces of art.
The featured artist of the evening will be Carol Joy Shannon, a prominent Raleigh artist who has donated her work to raise money for numerous charities and causes, including Gulf Fishermen and Aids Alliance of the Carolinas. A long-time member of the VAE, Shannon is also a dedicated member of the Fine Arts League of Cary and the Durham Art Guild. In addition, she is a founding member of the ChromaZones, a group of a dozen Triangle abstract artists who create large collaborative pieces for fundraising and exhibit in group shows throughout the state.
As a non-profit organization established to encourage and support the development of visual artists, events such as the auction and gala are important to ensuring the continued operation and success of VAE, as well as the creative vitality of the Triangle. Honorary chairs Charles Meeker and Anne McLaurin, along with co-chairs Kim Duffley and Brad Haynes, designed the event as a chance for art lovers to celebrate creativity, the Triangle’s greatest asset.
