Bonhams quarterly Salon Jewelry auction to be held September 30 in San Francisco, and simulcast in Los Angeles, will add some dazzle to fall shopping.
A Riker Brothers ruby and diamond Asian dragon motif bracelet, with maker’s mark, mounted in 14 karat gold (est. $4,000-6,000) will lead the sale, along with an F.J. Cooper multi-color moonstone bracelet, mounted in 18 karat gold (est. $2,500-3,500).
A grand variety of brooches will be on offer to suit a wide selection of tastes and interests. Especially notable is an enamel and diamond brooch, circa 1880, composed of an enamel portrait in a rose-cut diamond surround, backed by a starburst of rose-cut diamonds, and mounted in silver-topped 10 karat gold (est. $3,000-5,000); a sapphire, ruby and diamond peacock brooch (est. $3,000-5,000); and a diamond, ruby and sapphire ballerina brooch (est. $2,000-3,000).
Pendant highlights of the sale will include a fancy yellow diamond and diamond pendant (est. $5,000-7,000); a McTeigue & Co., colored cultured pearl and diamond circle pendant that doubles as a brooch (est. $3,000-5,000); and an amethyst, diamond and cultured pearl floral motif pendant (est. $2,000-3,000).
Among notable necklaces the sale has on offer will be a colored cultured pearl, opal, paste and diamond necklace (est. $10,000-15,000) and a diamond and 18 karat gold tubogas link necklace with a stylized buckle motif (est. $3,200-4,200).
Also special in the sale will be a signed, French Cartier diamond “double C decor” ring, 2000 (est. $1,500-2,500); a set of four Bulgari gem-set and diamond B.zero1 eternity bands (est. $4,000-6,000); and a collection of eight separately offered, colorful and varied Hermès bracelets and a pair of ear clips, of varying estimates.
Lynne Arkin, Fine Jewelry Specialist at Bonhams San Francisco, says of the auction: “This is a very interesting and inviting sale with a rich variety in every jewelry category. Special signed pieces along with unusual pieces create this attractive sale.”
The same day and location as the Salon sale, jewelry will be offered in the Period Art & Design auction at Bonhams.
