Bonhams and Pakistan Rising to hold charity auction

The international auctioneer Bonhams is to join forces again with the Pakistan educational charity, Pakistan Rising, to help raise much needed funds for primary schools in Pakistan. Eleven of Pakistan’s finest artists have donated work for the auction which takes place at 7.00pm on Monday 7th October at Bonhams, 101 New Bond Street, London.

Pakistan Rising is involved in a number of projects to help alleviate poverty in Pakistan including providing emergency relief aid to those in need, as well as schools for underprivileged children in remote areas of the Swat Valley and in Southern Punjab. The funds raised from the auction will be used to build additional classrooms and improve educational facilities in the five primary schools managed by Pakistan Rising in Swat and Uch Sharif where a total of over 1,100 underprivileged children are being educated.

Works include Red Ascension by Komail Aijazuddin (est £4,000-7,000); Memories by Imran Channa (£3,000-5,000); Andak, Andak by Faiza Shaikh (£4,000-7,000) and Snow globe under construction by Naiza Khan (£5,000-7,000).

This is the complete list of artists who have donated their work: Naiza Khan, Tassaduq Sohail, Faiza Shaikh, Waseem Ahmed, Salman Toor, Komail Aijazuddin, Imran Channa, Ayesha Durrani, Ali Kazim, Moeen Faruqi and Sara Khan.

The auction will take place during a preview reception for Bonhams next Indian and Islamic sale which takes place the following day, Tuesday 8th October.
