One of the absolute finest examples of the brilliant Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 known to exist, this fifth series model retains its original Zagato coachwork in its entirety, as well as all of its original drivetrain components. Delivered new to French gentleman driver and aviator, Baron Philippe de Gunzbourg, this Zagato Spider was used by the Baron as daily transport at the time he and Luigi Chinetti co-drove an Alfa Romeo 8C to a second place finish in the 1933 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Discovered in an original and unrestored state in a French barn in 2007, this extraordinary motorcar has undergone a meticulous, no expense spared restoration by renowned expert Stephen Babinsky of Automotive Restorations. Reinstated to its historically authentic and accurate – not to mention glorious – state, this pre-war legend has been invited to participate in the most prestigious international motoring events, including the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Amelia Island Concours, Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, and the 2013 Mille Miglia, which it completed in flawless form.

Alfa Romeo and Zagato are surely two of the most charismatic names in automotive history and this car, with its lightweight alloy body, powerful supercharged six-cylinder twin-cam engine, four-speed gearbox, race car handling and stunning aesthetics, is one of the most desirable cars of the 1930s if not the entire pre-war era.

This rare and remarkable automobile will be on view in New York City at Bonhams’ Madison Avenue headquarters from December 9th-13th alongside the singular Figoni & Falaschi-bodied 1947 Bentley MK VI Coupe and stunning 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL “Gullwing” Coupe. Members of the press and the public alike are invited to stop by and view these extraordinary automobiles before they head to Arizona for the January 16th Bonhams Scottsdale Auction at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa.
