Stunning Furniture with Silver highlights Chiswick Auction

In the 20th Century and Contemporary Art sale taking place on Tuesday 7th July we have some great Danish and Italian furniture, with British representation from Liberty, and a number of Georg Jensen silver pieces from full canteens to individual items.

So for studios, offices, the home or the collector the catalogue has headlines and hidden treasures.

The Georg Jensen silver pieces include (left to right):
• A gorgeous silver christening bowl, stamped 925 with makers marks, boxed, 17.5cm diameter (lot 13)
• A ‘KAKTUS’ pattern sterling silver cutlery canteen: 8 dinner knives, 8 dinner forks, 8 luncheon knives, 8 luncheon forks, 8 dinner spoons, 8 dessert spoons, 8 small teaspoons, 4 ladles, 3 serving spoons, 3 cold cut forks, 1 meat fork, 1 salad spoon, 1 small serving spoon, 1 salad spoon with steel, 1 serving fork, 1 baby spoon and a bottle opener (lot 11)
• A silver bowl No. 775, designed by Harold Nielsen, stamped underneath, 18cm diameter (lot 12)
Estimate: £400-£600
• (not pictured) A ‘Bernadotte’ cutlery selection, consisting of 12 dinner forks, 8 dinner knives, 8 luncheon knives, 8 teaspoons, 7 dessert spoons, 7 mocha spoons, 6 children’s forks and 1 soup spoon. (lot 14)

Danish furniture makers are represented by Jørgen Pedersen for E. Pederson & Søn. We have a pair of 1960s rosewood desk, with steel supports. They measure 200 x 100cm, and the pedestals are 80cm deep (lots 53 and 54)

And from Flexform Italy we have 8 Morgan dining chairs, black leather seats and custom order leather covered back rests, on black steel frames. They are split across lots 62 and 63.

Representing England we have two stunning pieces from Liberty.
A large Mahogany Thebes Stool by Liberty and Co, London with leather upholstered dished seat, raised on ring turned supports linked by stretchers (lot 44).

Shapland & Petter retailed by Liberty, an early 20th century Arts and Crafts oak hall stand, consisting of a storage cupboard with copper strap work over ‘A’ line shaped base with coat hooks (lot 45).

Other great pieces include:

A rare German Meissen Jungendstil
period porcelain vase (lot 41).

Attributed to Kolman Moser, a Bohemian Art Deco amber crystal glass vase (lot 42).

Bernard Moore Pottery,
a slender ovoid vase with everted rim (lot 2).

William Howson Taylor (1896-1935)
of West Smethwick, Birmingham,
a rare Ruskin Pottery high fired small stoneware ginger jar and cover (lot 3).
