Anglesey Ambergris Auction

A lump of Ambergris, which comes from whale’s, has been auctioned by Adam Partridge in Macclesfield for £11,000. The Ambergris was found by a dog walker on an Anglesey beach.

Adam Partridge said: “Somebody brought this waxy rugby ball-shaped lump to us and asked us to sell it for them,” he added.
“We’ve had lots of unusual items pass through the doors over the years, but this is by far the weirdest.”

Ambergris is a solid, waxy, flammable substance of a dull grey or blackish colour produced in the digestive system of sperm whales.Ambergris is mostly used in creating perfume and fragrance.
