Hart Davis Hart Auction Co. Ventures into Luxury Watch Auctions with the First-Ever Akrivia to be Offered at Auction

New Castle, DE, August 25th, 2023: Hart Davis Hart is expanding its horizons with the introduction of its inaugural Auction of Finest & Rarest Watches on August 25th. This exciting new venture is set to change the landscape of watch auctions, emphasizing independent watchmakers, iconic brands, and limited edition timepieces.

Early bidding is currently open for An Auction of Finest & Rarest Watches and the auction will culminate in a ‘live’ bidding session on August 25th at 9am ET, available on both the HDH auction website and the HDH mobile app. Interested buyers can download the app or visit the official website to register for the auction, browse lots, and initiate bids.

With a rich history in wine auctions since 2004, Hart Davis Hart has become a household name among wine enthusiasts worldwide. Founded by Paul Hart and Michael Davis, the company has amassed sales exceeding US$1 billion. Leveraging this success in the wine industry and recognizing the overlaps between wine and watch collecting, the firm is primed to cater to the intricate world of horology.

HDH’s inaugural Auction of Finest & Rarest Watches features an array of sought-after pieces, from iconic brands such as Patek Philippe, Vacheron Constantin, A. Lange & Söhne, and Audemars Piguet to esteemed independent watchmakers like Akrivia, Romain Gauthier, Daniel Roth, Grönefeld, F.P.Journe, and Urwerk. Notably, the auction will present an Akrivia AK-06 (lot 26), marking the company’s debut on the auction stage, a landmark event in the watch auction community.

Crafted in stainless steel and distinguished by its intricate mechanics, this timepiece originates from the esteemed Swiss brand Akrivia, founded by Rexhep Rexhepi. Introduced in 2017 as Akrivia’s first non-tourbillon in house model, the AK-06 showcases features such as a unique ‘all-or-nothing’ mechanism, typically reserved for minute repeaters. The watch’s presence at auction, especially being one of only 25 pieces crafted, underscores its rarity and the significant opportunity for collectors to acquire a pivotal model from an independent watchmaker’s limited repertoire.
